Energy Management Strategy of Hybrid Energy Storage System Based on Road Slope Information

To maximize the performance of power batteries and supercapacitors in a hybrid energy storage system (HESS) to resolve conflict between high demands electric vehicles limitations high-current charging discharging battery, vehicle demand model incorporating road slope information has been constructed. This paper takes HESS composed battery supercapacitor as object, rule-based management strategy (EMS) based on is proposed realize reasonable distribution under condition. According ahead, consumption next period was predicted, charged discharged advance meet uphill recovery capacity downhill avoid current charge discharge battery. Subsequently, improved EMS simulated New York City Cycle (NYCC) driving conditions with additional conditions. The results indicate that compared existing EMS, can effectively distribute supercapacitor, reduce duration high-power discharge, 20.4% higher efficiency, increasing cruising range.
